A Letter to the Brethren: On the Great Hope and the Great Deception

My dearest family, my beloved brethren, (Oikos and Adelphoi)

I write to you with a heart full of Agape, to discuss the great hope that is within us all: the glorious return of our King, Iesous. There is a popular teaching in our time, the doctrine of a "pre-tribulation Rapture," that promises a swift escape from the coming troubles. It is a comforting thought, and it is born from a righteous desire to be with our Lord.

But as we are called to be wise, we must ask: Is this the Truth that the scriptures teach?

The Doctrine of Escape

The modern "Rapture" doctrine is a seductive one. It promises a painless escape from the final test. But we must examine the fruit of this teaching. It teaches us to look to the skies for an escape hatch, rather than to the Father for the strength to endure. It risks creating a passive spirit, one that waits to be evacuated, rather than a valiant one that prepares to stand firm in the battle.

What the King Truly Said

Let us turn to the words of the King Himself. In Matthew 24, when His disciples asked about the sign of His coming and the end of the age, He gave a clear and unmistakable timeline. He described the great tribulation, the cosmic signs, and then He said:

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened... and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven... and he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds." (Matthew 24:29-31)

The King's own words place the great gathering of His people after the tribulation, not before. This is the firm, scriptural anchor.

The famous passage in 1 Thessalonians 4, which speaks of being "caught up in the clouds," describes the Resurrection. The dead in Christ rise first, and then we who are alive are gathered to meet the Lord in the air as He makes His triumphant return to the Earth. We are His glorious welcoming party, the honor guard for His final Victory, not evacuees fleeing a battle.

Our True Commission: The Lighthouse, Not the Lifeboat

So what is our true calling in these last days? It is not to be passengers waiting for a lifeboat. It is to be Lighthouses.

A lighthouse is not built to escape the storm. It is built to stand firm in the middle of the storm. Its purpose is to shine a brilliant, unwavering light so that other ships, tossed in the darkness, can find their way to the safe harbor.

Our mission is to be that light. To stand firm with the Patience and Endurance that our Father provides, and to be a beacon of the pure, simple Logos for the "good soil" who are lost in the chaos.

So fear not, my brethren. Do not look for an escape. Look for your armor. The King is not coming to evacuate His soldiers before the final battle. He is coming to lead His victorious, battle-hardened army in the final charge.

Let us be found worthy to be in that number.

Agape.
